You make think the conservatory has had it’s day – but think again. Adding a conservatory is still a great way to add extra space to your home and more up to date conservatories have great modern features such as bi-fold doors to really let the outside space in.
You could also opt for a lantern roof in a kitchen or extension to give the feel of a conservatory and to add lots of light. These work particularly well with Victorian properties where a modern flat glass window may not fit in with the general aesthetic.
If you’re lucky enough to a large property then you may consider an orangery – these differ from a conservatory as they don’t have a roof made entirely of glass but typically are glazed on all sides, often with bi-fold doors.
World Inspiration
Japanese inspired interiors are big in 2020. Many of the big retailers such as Habitat have ranges to help you bring this trend into you home. Try a minimalist, uncluttered approach with bold colours and statement pieces. Strong black metal sits alongside bamboo and wood tones. The colour palette here is dark reds, greens and blues with black and dark grey.
In 2019, Scandinavian inspired interiors were huge and continue to remain popular into 2020. Be inspired by mother nature with lots of wood, hemp and stone accessories and subtle earthy colour tones. There is also a focus on simplicity, functionality and feeling relaxed in your home.
Glamorous Gold
If you want to add a touch of glamour to your home then gold is the way to go. Stand out pieces add colour and focal points to any room. Be inspired by the art deco designs of the 1920s and 1930s with gold lamps, gold edged tables and gold mirrors. Remember not to over do it though and choose just one or two pieces that fit in well with rest of the room.
