It’s also worth having an independent inspector come round and take a look at any other adaptations that would need to be made in order for your parents to stay where they are. This way, as much can be done as possible at the same time.
Making changes to a home will take time, so it might be worth having them move in with you while the work is being completed.
Go Round As Often As You Can
If you have the time to go round regularly, try to do so. This gives them companionship, but it also gives them someone to look after them while they’re on their own. You can help by putting in some laundry, you can help by cooking meals and taking them over, and generally just being there for them.
Of course, nobody expects you to go every single day if this is not manageable for you. We all have our own lives, and sometimes no matter how much we wish we could, we are simply not able to find the time. But, a few times per week at least should be enough to give them the support that they need, if it isn’t, then it might not be a good idea for them to remain there anyway.
Rearrange The Home

Perhaps the home is currently set up in a way that doesn’t work for your parents anymore, and as such needs to be changed around. Chairs should be moved to allow more space, and if it’s a simple fix like this, that’s even better, right?
