10 Autumn Decorating Ideas

Last week I talked about how to get your home ready for Autumn. This week I want to help give you some inspiration on how you can decorate for Autumn.

Decorating for the seasons is becoming more and more popular here in the U.K. While it might not be for everyone, there are plenty of good reasons you might want to add a bit of seasonal flavour to your home.

During the past eighteen months, a lot of us spent far more time in our homes that we ever expected it too. And it can be really easily to feel as though we’ve done nothing but stare at the same four walls.

Adding some seasonal decorations to our homes can really help brighten things up without the need to fully redecorate. And like Christmas decorations, buying quality pieces means they can be used again and again, year after year.

10 Autumn Decorating Ideas

1. Autumn Wreathes

Just like Christmas wreaths, Autumn wreaths are the perfect way to add a beautiful seasonal welcome to your home.

You could make your using natural materials or you could buy a synthetic one that can be used year after year. Mini squash and pumpkins, pinecones, conkers and fallen leaves all make great additions if you decide to opt for the DIY version.

2. Cinnamon Spice

While most of us probably associate cinnamon with Christmas, it is also used in lots of Autumn dishes including the famous pumpkin spice mix.

I love the simple glass jar used here, with the pumpkins and red berries in the background bringing some beautiful autumn colours.

3. Filled Lanterns

These filled lanterns are my favourite idea on this list. Lanterns such as these can be picked quite cheaply from places like B&M and then filled with seasonal vegetables like pumpkins, squash and marrow. These should keep for a while as long as they aren’t cut and don’t get to warm, but you could always buy reusable plastic versions instead.

4. Autumn Table

This autumn table is bursting with colour and autumn vibes without being over the top. I especially love the black check napkins which give a slight Halloween feel.

The orangy yellow candles are another nice splash of colour and vase of flowers are the perfect way to bring everything together.

5. Splash of Orange

When it comes to autumn decorations in your home, it doesn’t need to be over the top. I love the subtlety and simplicity of these flowers bringing just a hint of autumn colour.

6. Munchkin Pumpkins

If you don’t want to go all out with pumpkin themed décor, why not use their smaller cousins, the munchkin pumpkin (yes, they really are called that!).

Munchkin Pumpkins make an excellent choice for autumn décor as they stay firm and fresh for a really long time, so there’s no need to worry about them going rotten and making a big mess for you to clear up.

7. Rustic Autumn

This simple style of table is something you could set up at the beginning of Autumn and the leave to be enjoyed for the rest of the season. Simple with a splash of colour is definitely the way to go when it comes to fall décor.

8. Orange and Green

I love the way this bouquet celebrates the colours of autumn but also brings a freshness with the different shades of green.

9. Front Door

As well as decorating inside your home, you can also decorate the outside too. Big pumpkins are perfect for this especially when combined with with seasonally coloured plant pots.

10. Autumn Leaves

Stringing up leaves is a great way to bring some colour to your home this autumn. Even better, it’s something the children can get involved with too. While the leaves pictured have a Halloween theme, you could just leave them plain too.

So there we have it, ten simple ideas for decorating your home this autumn season.
