5 Reasons To Choose Wood Flooring For Your Home

This is a collaborative post

When you move into a new home, over-time you’ll gradually replace, upgrade and redesign various elements to suit your tastes better. One of the biggest areas that you’ll need to look at is flooring. Flooring will cover a large area of your home and choosing the right flooring for your needs is key.

5 Reasons To Choose Wood Flooring For Your Home

Wooden flooring is an excellent choice for your home because it can be used in pretty much any room, it’s durable, easy to clean and comes in a range of colours.

Here are five reasons to choose wood flooring when renovating your home.

1. Wooden Flooring Is Long Lasting

Wooden flooring will last a long time, much longer than carpet. Because of it’s durability it’s a perfect choice for a family home as it isn’t easily damaged by children or pets. It can also be refinished, stained again and re-varnished making it very easy to freshen up for a whole new look.

2. It’s Very Easy To Clean

Wood flooring is very easy to keep clean – all it needs is a simple sweet and occasional gentle mop. No worries about spilling red wine here!

Any areas that do become stained for some reason can easily be repainted and varnished.

3. Wood Flooring Is Suitable For Any Room

You can use wood flooring in pretty much every room of your home. White wood flooring looks great in smaller rooms and gives the illusion of space and light. Dark wood flooring is great for larger rooms giving a classic, homely feel.

There are many different colours, grains and sizes to choose from meaning you should be able to find something that fits in with your choice of décor.

It can also be used in bathrooms where typically other types of flooring, such as carpet and laminate should be avoided.

4. Wooden Flooring Is Very Low maintenance

Because of its durability, wooden flooring is very low maintenance. While you could choose to give it a bit of refresh every few years, you may find that it doesn’t actually need it.

This is where it’s a better choice than say, laminate, as laminate gets easily damaged by water. If this happens, you could end up needing to replace your whole floor.

5. Wood Flooring Is Environmentally Friendly

You might be thinking that something made from trees doesn’t sound like the most environmentally friendly choice. However, it is better than choosing something man-made – such as concrete or carpet made from man-made products like nylon which have a huge carbon footprint.

It’s worth doing your research as many flooring companies will choose sustainable sources for their wood if this is important to you.
