As the nights start to draw in, you might be thinking about how you can make your home feel cosier during autumn. If full-blown redecoration is on your mind, why not take a look at these Autumn colour ideas for bedrooms to give you some inspiration?
After the heatwaves of the summer, it’s time to start getting prepared for the cooler Autumn months. Once you’ve dug out the candles and snuggly blankets, you might be wondering what more you can do to bring an Autumn vibe into your home.
I’ve put together some lovely colour combinations which I think work perfectly to give a subtle nod to beautiful Autumn colours but feel appropriate at any time of the year.
5 Autumn Colour Ideas For Bedrooms
1. Burnt Orange & Grey

Nothing quite says Autumn like this burnt orange colour which pairs perfectly with this shade of muted grey. The orange tones are reflected further in the coral furnishings.
Orange can be a very strong colour and I can understand not wanting to paint wall after wall in it – it would easily become too much. That’s why choosing a more neutral base colour such as grey works so well here.
And of course, if you do eventually find the orange is too much it can easily be switched out for something more subtle in the summer months and then switched back again for Autumn.
2. Grey & Mustard

Beds (which could be delivered the next day from Bedstar!) are, of course, the main focus of any bedroom, but we don’t always think to match them with our decor.
Here is a perfect example of how to do that, purchasing a mustard bed so the colour stands out against a plainer background, in this case, a beautiful dark grey.
As well as fallen leaves, we also associate Autumn with trees – bring that indoors by using wood flooring and wooden furniture to complete your room.
Finish with smaller pops of other Autumn colours such as orange cushions and terracotta pots. And don’t forget a divan Bed can really help with any storage needs you might have!
Mustard not your colour? This Divan Bed is available in a range of colours and fabrics including a more neutral grey, so could be used no matter which Autumn tones you decide to go with.
3. Taupe & Silver

There’s something about this combination of colours that just feels cosy, and that’s what we all want in autumn right?
Somewhere nice and cosy to curl up at the end of the day. While most people may baulk at the idea of using brown in a colour scheme, this shade of taupe is really rather pleasant.
And did you know that brown is a colour that can actually aid sleep? Lighter earthy tones can help us relax and get a good night’s rest. Add to that some lovely twinkly lights to brighten up dark autumn evenings and you’ll be well on the way to a cosy bedroom sanctuary.
4. Black, White & Sand

What I love about this colour scheme is that it keeps things light and bright but still has a cosy Autumn feel. The black feature wall with wood-framed acorn drawing really makes the room pop and is something that would be easy to recreate in your own home.
What really gives the room the wow factor though is all the finishing touches in their various wooden tones, from the wood crate shelving units to the log slices and the bowl of leaves that you just know would make a lovely crunchy sound.
5. Mustard, White & Orange

For an Autumn room to work, you need to think about bringing the outside, inside. Think bowls of pinecones, twigs artfully arranged for decoration and some beautiful Autumn colours.
White works well as a crisp and clean background for those oranges, yellows and muted greens that remind us all so much of Autumn. As before, using wooden furniture and a wicker basket will really bring things together and make your room livable all year round.
Tips For Adding Autumn Colours To Your Bedroom
If you want to add a splash of Autumn colour to your bedroom without full-on redecoration, here are some easy tips that will add that cosy fall vibe all year round.
Start With A Blank Canvas – People often moan that homes nowadays are too grey or all white. But the great thing about these neutral colours is they are very easy to add a pop of colour to with a simple change in bedding or by adding a few new cushions.
Twinkling Fairy Lights – Adding fair lights makes any room feel cosy in an instant. Even better they can be picked fairly cheaply, mean Autumn vibes even if you’re on a tight budget.
Bring The Outside In – Acorns, leaves, and pinecones all make great decorations for an Autumn bedroom and most can be collected for free.
Don’t Clash Your Colours – Autumn has an array of beautiful colours, but adding them all to one room could be too much. Choose one or two accent colours to compliment a more natural tone overall.
Stick With Natural Materiels – Keep things simple with lots of wood furniture, photo frames and flooring.
Autumn is a wonderful time season and I can see why people are keen to bring it into their homes all year long! I really hope this post has inspired you to bring some Autumn colours into your bedroom.
