Putting some photographs up in our living room is one of those things we’ve been meaning to do for ages. We wanted to do a photo wall with a selection of pictures but I was worried about it looking ‘right’. I was nervous about buying lots of different frames in different sizes and then them not really looking quite right when finally put together, so in the end, we used an Ikea Photo Wall Kit.
The Ikea photo wall kit ‘Knoppang’ seemed to be exactly what we were looking for. It came with eight photo frames in various sizes and paper templates for the wall to help us get the configuration right when putting the photos up.
How Much Does Ikea Knoppang Photowall Kit Cost?
This kit cost £30 when we originally purchased it but has since increased to £40.
While I do think I could have maybe sourced all the frames more cheaply, I was definitely happy to pay for the convenience of having everything done for me.
It is available in both black and white.
What Is Included In The Ikea Knoppang Kit?
There are eight photo frames in the kit of differing sizes.
The paper templates provided in the kit give you four different configurations of how you can hang the frames, so there should be one to suit your space no matter what the size.
These could also then be flipped to go in other directions giving yet more options.
Pictured below is the one that we chose – as you can see if we’d wanted the smaller picture on the right we could have just flipped the template 180. We could have also used it to create a long photo wall rather than a wide one
Initially, we hung the frames just to make sure they looked okay and while we waited for the photographs we had ordered to arrive.
Photos From Snapfish
I order my photographs from Snapfish. They do 50 free small prints per month and delivery is around £3.50. I do this each month as I like to get photographs of my daughter printed out and it’s a great way to start putting together Christmas gifts – we usually give her grandparents albums filled with pictures from throughout the year. I like to be organized!
So this month, along with my free prints I ordered some bigger pictures to go in the frames too. They cost around £1.50 each. I used pictures from my iPhone and while the Snapfish app did flag them as low quality, I am pleased with them, I just think it’s something to be aware of when ordering.
Overall I’m really happy with our DIY photo wall. It was easy to put up and arrange the photos in a way that looks right.
