Christmas Date Night Ideas

This is a sponsored post

Christmas 2020 is going to be very different to many of the Christmases that have come before it. With most of us unable to see friends and family to the extent we would like and possibly not even being able see romantic partners indoors if they are not in our bubbles, it may be time to get creative with some at home Christmas date night ideas.

Much of 2020 feels like it has been conducted online – via Zoom, face time or Skype while we collectively stayed at home and tried to stop coronavirus spreading. All the Christmas date night ideas I’ve come up with below are perfect for both couples, families and friends to do together.

Let’s put Grannies new found computer skills to the test!

Looking For Love

Before we get started with date night ideas, you may have decided that you’d like to finish the year off by looking for love. Dating websites are one of the best ways to find singles and there are websites dedicated to looking for singles of all types.

For example, if you’re from Liverpool and want to find someone to date living near you, you could use a Merseyside dating site. Just pop your details into the Merseyside dating website and you’ll be well on your way to finding someone single and local which makes meeting for a socially distanced date much easier.

Games Night

There’s no need to miss out on family board game time this Christmas, as many of the classics can be played online. Two players games such as Chess, Draughts, Battleships and Backgammon can all be found with a quick google.

Other classics such as Scrabble, Cluedo and Boggle are available too.

My personal favorite is Skrible.io which is similar to Pictionary and something I spent a lot of time playing with friends over the first lockdown. We played on out laptops while chatting via a Messenger video call on our phones.

Cook-a-long

There are lots of ways to approach a cook-along. You could cook a family recipe while on Face time to Mum and Dad. You could make the same fancy meal as your partner and chat and flirt as you cook over Zoom.

You could let Grandma and Granddad watch over video call while the kids decorate cookies. Food always brings people together at Christmas and this year shouldn’t be any different just because we can’t enter each others houses.

Movie Marathon

One of the best things about a shared Netflix account is that it lets you start movies at the same time. While it’s not quite the same as all snuggling up together with a blanket and big bowl of popcorn, it’s still a great way to share something magical with family or friends over Christmas.

Getting Crafty

There are so many online Craft Tutorials, why not pick one such as a wreath or other Christmas decoration and choose a time to make it together across several families or friendship groups. You could even pop on Facebook afterwards and ask everyone to vote on who has done the best job.

Even though Christmas is looking very different this year there are still lots of ways we can connect to each other with help of technology.
