Have you ever wondered what the best colours for sleep are? The way your bedroom is decorated can have a huge impact on how easy you find it to relax into a good night’s sleep. Here are some of the best bedroom colours for sleep.
5 Of The Best Bedroom Colours For Sleep
1. Earthy Browns

When thinking of colours to paint your bedroom, brown might not be the colour that immediately springs to mind.
However, brown is an excellent colour for the bedroom as it can aid sleep.
Being surrounded by the colour brown feels natural and the earthy tones make us feel relaxed and sleepy. Plus there are lots of different shades of brown to choose from, such as deep coffee tones to something lighter like Mink.
2. Blue, Blue, Blue

Blue has been proven to be one of the absolute best bedroom colours for sleep. Blue is a calming colour and being surrounded it by in your bedroom can help you drift off peacefully and get a good night’s rest.
Any shade of blue will work, but deep tones such as Navy and Royal blue tend to work best.
3. Gorgeous Greens

The colour green is often associated with peace, tranquility and nature which is why it’s one of the best bedroom colours for sleep. For me, it evokes forests, trees and leaves all things that are relaxing and calming which is what you need when trying to get to sleep after a busy day.
Dark shades of green work better but can be paired with more neutral colours if you think painting your whole room green might be too overwhelming.
4. Pale Yellow

Waking up in a pale yellow room can really help you have a great start to the day. And because it’s not as stimulating as bright, sunshine yellow it can also help provide you with a great nights sleep too. Pair pale yellow with other pastel shades, white or a very light grey and keep brightly colored accessories to a minimum.
5. Shades Of Grey

There are lots of reasons to love a grey bedroom. As well as being a relatively neutral tone to help with sleep, grey goes well with many other colours, making a great base to dress up or dress down as much as you like. Light grey can also make a bedroom seem larger than it is.
While some people might find grey bland or depressing, this tone in a bedroom can help you sleep as it is tranquil and soft.
3 Colours To Avoid Using In The Bedroom
As well as some colours being great for sleep, some colours should be avoided as they can make it more difficult for you to sleep and get a decent night’s rest.
1. Red
While it may seem romantic, red is never a good choice for the bedroom. The colour red can remind of us all sorts of things and can often evoke emotions, such as anger. Best avoided but if you really can’t imagine any other colour try toning it down by using a deep, rich wine or burgundy colour pallet.
2. Purple
The colour purple has many associations including wealth, power and ambition. This stimulating colour is often just too much for the bedroom and could be detrimental to your sleep, rest and relaxation.
Very light shades of purple such as lavender may be okay but it might be worth keeping them to one wall and pairing with more neutral tones.
3. Black
While black may seem like a good bedroom colour it can be too dark. It can also be extremely difficult to paint over when it comes to redecoration, so if you want black, opt for wallpaper rather than paint.
You should also avoid using glossy paints which reflect light and can make the room seem brighter than it is.
